Come join us for our first field event of 2018: a trip to the Perkinsville Meat Processors! This will be an educational and interactive tour of a local, family-owned business that has worked closely with the Flying M Ranch and a vast number of other ranchers, farmers, and hunters throughout northern Arizona. This trip will allow us to see the inside of the plant . . . to be "in the room where it happens."
On this trip we will learn about the history of the business, the intricacies of meat processing and packing, and how closely the Ducote family works with open lands owners, managers, and users.
We will get an introduction to this industry and some of the finer points at the 2018 Annual Meeting, by Sam Garcia, Ph.D., who is the program manager of the Food Product and Safety Lab in the School of Animal and Comparative Biomedical Sciences at the University of Arizona.
No need to bring a lunch! We'll all be eating at the Casa Grande Mexican Restuarant in Chino Valley. Payment TBA.

This is primarily an indoor visit, so weather-oriented clothes aren't necessary!
