Diablo Trust’s Partnership with AZ Sportsmen for Wildlife Conservation
Diablo Trust is proud to be a partner of the AZ Sportsmen for Wildlife Conservation (AZSFWC). Diablo Trust Board Director Stephen Williams has long-represented the organization as a member with AZSFWC, and he had this to share about the organization and our work together:
“The Diablo Trust is a member of the AZSWFC, which is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to wildlife conservation, habitat improvement and youth recruitment and retention. It advocates for sportsmen, wildlife and conservation, public lands and access, scientific wildlife management and the Commission form of governance for the Arizona Game and Fish Department. It has 43 member organizations spanning the spectrum of hunting, angling, conservation, shooting and outdoor recreation. This range of membership diversity gives AZSFWC a measure of credibility unique in the non-profit conservation world.
The AZSFWC administers a grant program for the distribution of the proceeds from the sale of the Arizona Conserving Wildlife specialty license plate. In 2025, 27 grants were awarded in the amount of $266,856 for habitat, education and recruitment. When AZSFWC weighs in on an issue the collective voice of its member organizations has a greater impact than an individual group. The importance of collectively commenting on a position is one of the primary reasons why AZSFWC was formed 20 years ago.
The importance of Diablo Trust’s partnership with AZSFWC is obtaining up to date information about the issues facing natural resources management in Arizona. At the monthly meetings the Arizona Game and Fish Department’s director and staff are present to discuss current topics relevant to them. The committee reports also provide current information on such topics as OHV legislation, feral equids, solar and wind farm proposals, and legislation. Diablo Trust is pleased to have a seat at this table.”
