Spring 2026 Appeal

Diablo Trust was formed in response to conflict and over the last 33 years has shaped a tight-knit community centered in Northern Arizona, committed to each other and the land we love.

There was a movement in the early 90s to eliminate cattle grazing on public lands, and it divided communities and fueled misunderstandings. Tensions were high.

Two ranches in northern Arizona decided to avoid the fight and find solutions by inviting people to join them to walk the land, talk about their concerns, and share ideas for a shared future. These groups worked through difficult conversations, argued, stood their ground, found a common purpose, and then decided to collaborate.

This was the origin of Diablo Trust. Your support today continues that work.

The conversations we have in Diablo Trust begin with our love of the land. For thousands of years, people have shared space with wildlife, adapted to changing climates, watched the night skies, and raised families and food, all in this place we call home. Diablo Trust was formed to bring together people who share a love and respect for the land. The people who live on the ranches far from town spend their days as stewards in service to the land, animals, and people they share it with.

Diablo Trust has a commitment to the land, the resources, and the people. With ranching as our foundation and driving force, we support science on the land, education for all ages, a well-informed public who can participate in collaborative land stewardship, and the relationships needed to ensure our work results in a healthy and productive landscape for all.

We are excited to share our new Strategic Plan for 2026-2030, created with the community’s input to guide Diablo Trust’s operations and growth over the next several years.

Our mission is to advance bold, adaptive stewardship that sustains working and open landscapes.

We envision working and open landscapes for generations to come.

Our strategic goals focus on our three newly designed programs, defined by our tagline:

·        Learning from the Land: Strengthen the Role of Research and Data in Decision-Making

·        Sharing our Knowledge: Build the Next Generation of Land Stewards and Shape an Informed and Engaged Public

·        So there will always be a West: Advance Priority Projects on the Land and Support Long-Term Ranching Viability
